I have a fuel problem on a 98 Johnson 115 Fast Strike mod# J115GLECM. On the lake the other day it started running rough. I was running on a low tank of fuel and thought i was running out of gas so i switched tanks, after doing so i got boat on plane and went maybe 50 yards and it did it again but this time the oil alarm and light came on saying no oil. I checked the oil and it had 3/4 of a tank so i pumped up prime ball and took off again. After about 50 yards it did it again. To make a long story short i had to keep pumping prime ball ever 50 yards to make it back to to landing. I have checked the fuel filter to see if it was stopped up but it was clean. The only thing i can think of is the fuel pump since i had to keep pumping ball to get it gas. Thanks for any help anyone can give!

You might want to have a qualified mechanic check the ecu (computer) to see if you have code issues or possibility of a faulty ecu. I had the same symptoms and had to replace the ecu and have it programmed for my engine. It is a costly replacement so go to a trusted mechanic. $1,200. Use Johnson xd30 oil - and add fuel conditioner (Yammalube) to keep the fuel injectors clean. Once a fuel injector fails the engine runs lean and leads to a full rebuild for the aluminum heads. There is no fusible link between a failed injector and the ecu so you really should proceed with caution.
