I have a 1998 Evinrude Ocean Pro. Recently i had some service done and it was discovered that the thermostats were deteriorated. Well it is believed that a piece of the old thermostat broke free and became lodged in one of the water jackets for cooling the motor. As a result the motor runs hot since only half the motor is able to cool.
The question i have is simple, does anyone know how many hours of labor is called for to pull a head and re-install it. I know i have to buy the three o-ring head gaskets for each head. I was just trying to get an idea of how much this might cost.
The water runs from the water pump, through the cooling circuits to the thermostat, then out. To get the thermostat parts into the water jacket your pumping system would have to run backwards.
You can get the retail list price on every part of your motor on-line at the BRP Store. The rest should be a straight labor rate. Go to the link then open the parts store in the upper right corner:
