I have a 1998 Evinrude 90hp V4 that I just got. It has the VRO system which I am considing disconnecting. (I have always pre mixed) I know this topic has been spoke about many times, but I was told (and i don't know how true this is) that this motor was made different from other Evinrude motors and the VRO had to be used inorder for the motor to function correctly. I was told that other motors by Evinrude could use the pre mix, but not this motor.
Does anyone know what makes this motor so different.
not sure why you can not premix that motor...It is not a EFI is it?? If it is a carbbed motor, I know of no reason why you cannot premix. But i do not claim to know everything. I have a 1995 OIS 150 Rude...I premix it.
I have no idea what is so special about this motor. But he did say it had to do with the fact that its a V4 and evinrude/johnson only made a handful of them. My evinrude dealer did say he only seen one in the 25 years that he had been in service. I want to pre-mix but if its going to hurt this motor, I'll leave the VRO plugged in.
