1997 Evinrude 2 stroke 9.9hp Compression

what is the specs on a 97 short shaft 2 cylinder 2 stroke 9.9 hp outboard? im going to look at one on monday, and would like to run a compression test before purchasing. thanks guys

The key is they are close to each other. Within 5-10 psi.

I would suspect they will be somewhere around 60 to 80.

thanks for the quick response! is there anything else i should look for(besides the obvious) before buying?

1. The condition of the lower unit fluid. Crack open the bottom screw that says "fill" and make sure there is no water or milky fluid.

2. Water pump. Does it cool correctly and do you have a strong stream from the telltale?

3. Does it stay in forward gear when accelerated?
