Cool 1996 Johnson 150 Engine Alarm, Primer Bulb Soft

When I get up on a plane the engine alarm goes off. This is happening more frequently.
Bought the boat/motor in Dec 2006. The primer bulb is difficult to get hard. When I squeeze it sounds like an air leak even with a full tank of gas.
    I think it is a water/fuel issue.
I have a seperator installed and just changed it.
I have used a lot of ISO Heet with this tank of gas.

when you changed the filter did you fill it with gas before installing. if not it is still sucking air out of the filter. the primer bulb should be between the filter and the motor, so the filter has to be full. fill the filter, then disconnect the fuel line at the motor, stick something small into the end of the fuel line, to open the valve, and pump the bulb until you only get gas. when you take the filter off the fuel in the line from the tank to the filter also drops back to the tank, so all the air has to come out. the alarm is probably low fuel.

EJW, I have the same issue, to a lesser severity. I only get the alarm when I really nail the throttle, which I never really do. Make sure the primer bulb is good, all connections are airtight, and the seperator is on firmly, but not overtight.

I think filling the filter with new gas did the trick.

New issue. We have sucked up some sand coming in on a low tide. Engine is still peeing but temp is rising some. I have read before to run it hard within a few days of sucking sand to clear it out.

Do you recommend this at all?
