[Sand Bass]

The adjustable fin that hangs from the cavatation plate just behind the prop. It has a small hole in the front of it that picks up water and shoots it up into the exhaust housing. I understand the purpose of the fin. What is the purpose of shooting a small stream of water up into the leg??? I am asking because the person that had this motor before me ground the fin off the plate. There is sill a small hole in the plate where the fin was but it probably does not pick up as much water. Extry water to cool prop hup. If it does not pick up enough water, and you run the engine hard,the exhaust heat will cook the prop hub, and it will spin the hub.

Thanks Clanton. I have not had a problem yet but that is good information to know. I am thinking of grinding the front edge of the hole so that the back edge of the hole will scoup up water. Thanks again
