    Default 1993 150hp Johnson

Went out yesterday and engine started great 2-3 times on the last time it wouldnt start. The engine would crank but not want to turn over. I checked the priming bulb to make sure it had gas and it was flat. I primed it and tried again with nothing. Tried this several more times with nothing. The tank had plenty of gas. The battery had just a little under 12V so not sure if it just wasnt getting enough power? After a few cranks there was a little bit of a gas trail(from flooding?). I have the manual just not very engine savy, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

They're easy to flood if the proceedure is wrong, but a warm engine should pop right off, did you get it going or get a tow?

Next time it floods, open the throttle halfway in neutral and crank until it starts to pop, close the throttle the instant it fires up.
I flooded mine last year by accidentally leaning against the ignition key.

    did you test for spark?
Was the bulb physically flat ot just soft, they are supposed to become soft but not flatten, a flat bulbs means there a clog in the pickup, anti syphon valve or the tank vent is clogged, presuming the bulb is good.

I couldnt get it to start. Waited 20 minutes or so between tries and still couldnt get it to turn over. As for the bulb it was pretty flat after each cranking attempt. But could prime it back up firm. Someone said it could possibly be an air leak in the line, does this sound reasonable?

No an air leak in the line introduces air and makes it run lean, very high idle, alarm and over oiling if the VRO is still in use. You should expect to see fuel on the line too if air is leaking in....fuel leaks out too.

a physically FLAT bulb means theres

1 a clog in the pickup,
2 anti syphon valve blocked or
3 the tank vent is clogged,
    presuming the bulb is good.

The fuel pump is sucking but the fuel isn't flowing from the tank for the above reasons.
