I know there is a section specifically for props, but this is a Johnson question as well.
I just bought a 1990 Johnson Seahorse 6 (long shaft)... spent the weekend decarbing and cleaning out the idle circuit. Not sure how well it worked, but the motor ran for about 10 hours yesterday at the lowest idle I could get it to (throttle turned down below the start line). I can back it all the way down in neutral and it runs smooth and forever, but it dies at that low speed when I put it in gear.
I cannot say how much my boat weighs - it's a 1987 Bayliner Capri 14'. Stock prop is 8 1/2 dia; pitch is 9"; 3 blades.
I primarily fish for Kokanee and need to troll ~slowly~ At the smoothest running idle speed, the boat is probably running about 2 1/2 mph, so we dropped a 5 gallon bucket drag anchor behind.
Can I reduce the size of the prop to slow it down? Lesser pitch? Won't be running at WOT very much with this motor unless the Force 50 dies.
The only props I could find on iBoats for this motor are the stock size... who/how/what to interchange to smaller/less aggressive???
