1990 Evinrude Intruder 150 T&T throttle switch

My T&T works fine when activated from the motor but only works down (not up) when activitated from the throttle switch.Someone told me I need a new switch at the button.If so, can a novice like me fix this? Do I have to take the entire throttle mechanism apart to install. Any direction is appreciated.Thanks,

I replaced the toggle switch in the handle on my rig last year. You do have to at least pull the handle apart if memory serves me. I did some testing prior to changing mine out, there some relay switches that should be checked out prior to changing anything. A good multi tester and a manual goes a long way. As a matter of fact you should be able to switch the up and down relays around to check to see if one of them is faulty.

If your T & T works ALL the time from the motor don't see how it could be relays. Just have to take outside cover off shift handle. Probably have to demount control box, screw on mounting side that holds handle on, screws on backside of handle that holds cover on. Replace T&T switch.Good luckJim
