The fuel gauge, trim gauge,:'( and battery gauge all simultaneously stop working shortly after I start my '90 Evinrude 175. I have discovered that I can sometimes gently wiggle the ignition key and all these gauges will work. I neglected to determine if they stop working after I take the motor out of neutral. I suspect there is a short in the ignition switch that causes these gauges to stop working. I am not an electrical guru! If it is the ignition switch, is this an item that is somewhat easily replaced by me?
Re: 1990 Evinrude 175 - Ignition Switch The Problem?
When I cleaned mine it was really straightforward. Just wires and connections. Be sure to write down which one goes where for re-assembly and disconnect the battery when fiddling around. Same goes for replacing the switch. Good luck, Frank
