Can any one tell me about this motor I'm planing to buy it to replace a force 120HP in my 21' bayliner trophy.
Is this a good saltwater engine and if there's any known problems etc.?
the serial # is J120TLESB.
Thanks to All.

much better engine than the force. no known problems. make sure compression is above 100 and within 10 % of each other. good crisp bluish spark, jump 1/2 inch. lower unit no water. if it does not have the VRO2 fuel/oil mixer, update it , or go to premixing fuel. when was the water pump last serviced, and carbs cleaned and rebuilt?

the info supplied is spot on, the new Engine will eat your old Force for Power, and it is a fairly simple reliable Motor, but is on the large size and quite heavy!
If your boat is the cuddy model, rated for 230hp, you are very marginal at 120HP.
The motor is a torque monster, so with the right prop you can expect a lot, but your top end will be very limited.

Thanks to All for the info.
I'm bying this motor from the goverment and with luck it was well serviced.
It was used in fresh water and kept out of the lake in winter.
It will be used in a 1990 walkaround 21' trophy that came with te force 120HP
any ideas as far as the average $ for this motor?
Any more information will be greatly apreciated.
Again Thanks to All
Could always check Nada.com for a rough estimate, although I sometimes tend to disagree on their estimates. Really does depend on the condition, then minus the work needed to be done.
