When checking the timing on my 87 6HP, the timing is showing to be 180 deg out. The timing is supposed to be 9 deg. ATDC at closed throttle. I put a white mark on the flywheel at this point. With a self powered timing light on cyl. #1 (top cyl.) The white mark is showing up on the opposite side of the timing pointer. 180 deg. out.

I checked the ignition wiring against the OEM service manual and it is correct. I have not indexed the flywheel yet but will tomorrow.

Anybody know if this is possible ? The engine runs OK. The timing light is brand new so I'm assuming it is OK.
