1985 Johnson 115 Fuel problem

1985 Johnson 115 I had added seafoam to the gas and ran for about an hour when it shut down I have been able to get it to start but now it seems like it runs out of gas, it will idle and then slowly shuts down. Could the problem be trash in the carbs and what is the best way to clean them out short of pulling them off. thanks

Removing carburetors, totally disassembling them, cleaning every nook, cranny, port and passage is the ONLY way to clean the crud out of carburetor. But there are lots of other things to check before doing that. Squeeze the primer bulb to see if that keeps the engine running. If it does, look at the fuel pump, fuel line, anti-siphon valve if the tank has one, and fuel filter. If squeezing the primer bulb doesn't help then put some premixed fuel in a spray bottle and spray it directly into the carb throat. If that keeps the engine running then the carbs may indeed need rebuilding. Do the simple and cheap things first.

As Silvertip says. Do a proper job on the carbs. If a two stroke carb does not work correctly you will not get the lubrication necessary and you will burn up the motor. No shortcuts on this.
