1979 Evinrude 140 Temp guage kit ?

I found a complete kit on eBay and was just wondering if this kit would be suitable for my outboard. The sending unit is no longer available, or so the local dealer is telling me, for this year powerhead. Just curious if this "Z" clip guage will work effectively and accurately? Anyone have any experience with them? Thanks................... ALAN

You need a new dealer. The kit you're looking at will work just fine.

I HAVE HAD ONE SIMILAR TO THIS ON A COUPLE OF ENGINES. I WOULD BE CAUTIOUS ABOUT THE GUAGE-IT IS HARD TO SEE ANY TEMP MARKINGS ON IT. AM NOT A FAN OF A GUAGE THAT RANGES FROM "C" TO "H." IT IS HARD TO REALLY TELL WHAT THE TEMP IS. PREFER THE ONES THAT HAVE TEMP MARKINGS ON EACH INCREMENT OF THE GUAGE.
