    Default 1978 70 hp johnson starter problems

    i'm a total rookie when it comes to outboards, but my daughter took the boat out this afternoon. started it up, fired up, but died right away. Tried to start again, and the starter just whizzes around without engaging gears. Is this simply a bad starter?
