I have 1977 johnson remote controls. I replaced the ignition switch. I am having a problem assembling the controls. Is there a secret to keep the spring and ball from interferring with the 2 sides of the unit fittting back together properly.

Please see diagram on remote control. The spring and ball are parts #30 & #84.
