1977 Evinrude 25 Wiring Woes

Hello All
I just got a 1977 Evinrude 25 from a friend for 100 bucks, he gave me everything he had for it and it looks like I am missing half of the wiring loom. The whole part that is attached to the motor is there, but the part that goes into the ignition is missing. Evinrude is saying this is a 160 dollar part, however I would happily make the loom myself if I could find a replacement amphenol connector, or even buy the half of the wiring setup I am missing. I have already checked e-bay to no avail, and I don't know where else to look. If you don't know what I am talking about, it is the female part of the big black connector in the attached photo (This is a picture of another motor, the big female connector is what I'm missing) Hopefully once I get this connector I can attempt to fire er up and see if she runs!

Cdi electronics did manage to direct me to the 270 dollar part I need to buy in order to make this work, and I am starting to think that I should just give in and buy it. Does anybody know of where I could get a proper wiring diagram for this motor, as it appears to have been rewired at some point bypassing a few features that I would like to reincorporate into the wiring system (Most notable one is the neutral button bypass).

I believe there is a wiring diagram for your motor at the link below.

Login as directed then drill down to: Small Engines, Marine/Boat Motors, Intertec Wiring Diagrams, Johnson/Evinrude, 1977 25HP Electric Start.

Before you start spending more money to replace missing parts, why not get a terminal strip from Radio Shack and make jumpers between the remaining wiring/connectors. That should enable you to test the motor, trouble-shoot and repair/replace components as necessary. If you decide it's a keeper, then you could buy the parts needed to make it water-ready. Good luck!
