Default 1974 Evinrude 115 V4 crossflow temp sensor

    Hello everyone,

I have a 1974 Evinrude 115 V4, model 115493B missing its temp sensor. I have the new temp sensor, and went to put in in yesterday but it didn't seem that it would go in from above. This is the temp sensor that mounts into the water passage cover on the top of the engine. Does anyone know if I have to remove the water passage cover to install it from underneath, or should it drop in from above? If so I will have to buy a gasket and remove the flywheel to gain access.

    Thanks!
    Rob
