1974 25hp Starter rewind qustion

Hello everyone I have got a 1974 25hp johnson and it is missing the rewind starter and I have a friend that has a rewind from a 1976 25hp evinrude would it work on the 74? Also is there any site that have good pictures of these motors? I got it gave to me and the guy was not sure what was wrong with it. Can these have a garden hose hooked up to them to test them? if so how do you do it? Sorry for the questions but I am new to boating

so they look like the same thing? am I correct ?

I didn't look that close, just found them for you. Compare part numbers between the two. I think they will interchange but you need to compare part numbers to be sure.
