I have a 1972 johnson seahorse 20 hp. The stop switch was missing when i got the motor. I was wondering what i could use to wire up a stop switch. Any ideas? Thanks.

Instead of a kill switch, I'd suggest a man overboard switch. Available right here on iboats.
When you touch the two black wires coming down from mag plate, that's the stop circuit (grounds the points together, canceling them out. You can replace w/any momentary switch, or get a replacement. Call tim's outboard 218-682-2331 and he'll have a used one for cheap. You could also hook up a lanyard in case you fall overboard and want the motor to stop.. Someone will chime in soon for that, I'm sure![]()
It's almost beyond the point of bearable how torturous it is to try to have any dignity in being a Vikings fan..
KBAIT, is Tim kicking you some cash, cause he should be![]()
Signature- If you have fuel and spark- Have you checked compression?
i just used a push start ignition button. Works great. Thanks for the advice
