just got a johnson 1971 60ESL71 with that electric shift, long story short, I need a new shift solenoid. I've removed the lower end and removed the 2 solenoids, the blue one (bottom) works ok, the green one (top) is fubar. Has anyone ever found a place that sells these parts? I could also use new gaskets and o-rings but I can't seem to find anyplace that sells parts for this beast.BTW wow, never remove the lower if you can help it on these, the water pump tubes suck to get realigned. Thanks,Rich
Welcome to iboats Rich!Have you tried your local Bomby dealer for parts? Last I know, the parts you need are still available. The solenoids ain't cheap, but still available along with the gaskets and orings you need. You can also try TwinCity outboard. You might even try iboats meaga mall for gaskets and orings. As far as the water tube being difficult to line up, sound like you don't have the guide tube. This is just a plastic tube that goes into the pump housing outlet.....sorta like an extension of the hole the water tube goes in. This lets you line the tube up real easy. Check with your local dealer.
When in doubt...use the manual
