Default 1969 9.5 evinrude running hot

Installed new water pump kit and water leaving the motor is spitting or spraying out and gets very hot after a few minutes. Same trouble before I replaced the pump. Removed the thermostat and water really gushes out of the head. I'm thinking the exhaust housing may be clogged and is preventing proper circulation of water. Before I tear into the motor I'd appreciate any info to get me headed in the right direction if I'm not already. Thanks in advance!

Were you able to find out what was wrong with the motor? I am having the same problem with the same exact motor. The water coming out of the water exhaust is very hot to the touch. I am currently running champion j8c plugs but will be changing them to either j4c or j6c. Anything would help! Thanks!

Since the problem occurred nearly 11 years ago, I rather doubt the gentleman remembers the outcome of this particular problem. You would be better off starting a new thread, rather than resurrecting an old one.
