1967 Johnson 80 hp starter needed

I am in need of a starter for my 1967 80 hp johnson outboard... would like to buy used if possible.. please let me know if you EDIT know of one.

My '67 80hp starter didn't look like that one. It had a separate bendix gear housing that bolts on top of the starter.

Codammit, how do you know your starter is bad? Have you opened it up to check for disconnected/worn brushes?

My apologies for the bad elink... just goes to show that you cant always trust item descriptions on ebay.

You should really try and see if the starter motor needs replaced or pinion and/or gear/shaft assembly need replaced. No need to spend more then what it takes to get running.

Can't you just carry it to a starter/generator repair shop and have it rebuilt?
