    Default 1967 Fastwin flywheel

    Hello all!

I have a 1967 Rude Fastwin 18hp. While trying to change the points and such, I managed to crack the flywheel. I have access to a 1965 and a 1969 Fastwin 18hp and was wondering if either of these flywheels would work. Both the 65 and 69 no longer run so robbing parts is ok. The '69 flywheel looks identical.

    Thanks in advance!

Yes, they'll work. I hope you're using a correct puller and not hammering the flywheel off, and using a torque wrench set to 45 foot-lbs. to reinstall the flywheel nut.
    GOod luck,

Thanks JBJ! I used a wheel hub puller that I thought would work. (That's what I get for thinking lol )

If you fail to use a torque wrench to re-install, there's a very high probability the key will shear. You get but a few tries before the crankshaft and flywheel become big, ugly paperweights.

Doh! Gotta use a harmonic balancer puller like this next time. Be sure you use 3 GRADE 8 (1/4 x 20 x 3 1/2") bolts, but only screw them in about 1/2" inch.

Ordered the CORRECT tool from Harbor Freight. I put a shot or two of WD40 in there to hopefully make it easier to remove.

Should I replace both coils or just the one that is bad?

... and when you replace the flywheel, the bore and crank taper must be clean and DRY (no oil).
