    Default 1967 80hp V4 Johnson Starter Problems

    We had the starter rebuilt a few years ago and it seemed to work just fine. Now it just spins and won't pop up to engage the flywheel. I have tried going directly to starter positive terminal with jumper cables and get the same result. Is this time to rebuild the starter again, or is it possibly a bad solenoid?

    Any help is appreciated!

    Try lubracating the shaft that the gear is on.
