    Post 1966 johnson 60hp 2-stroke want to change impeler

    hello fellow boaters i am a novice and need some guidance on changing this part this is my first boat and i have done a lot to it this is my last obstacle. i have the bolts out but cant get the the lower unit to drop. so i am stuck any advice would be very helpful. Thank you.

    There is an access cover on the left side of the upper housing, remove the two screws holding it on, inside you'll see the shift rod coupler, you have to remove one of the two screws of the coupler, 1/4" socket on an extension will make it a sinch.
