1961 Johnson Sea Horse 75hp cleaning engine block behind exhaust manifold

I've got the manifold off to replace the gaskets and the gunk is really built up inside.....Is it ok to spray cleaner in there? Also, the plate in there is bowed ....Is that servicable. thanks I'd like to post a pic of the block if I can.

Try Easy-Off oven cleaner. The plate should be alright as long as it will seal up.

Yes!Just let it drain down, try not to brush it into the ports.

Shoot, that isn't bad. Don't worry about it. Never was meant to be clean.
