I have just purchased a 1956 Johnson 15hp fd-10. The guy i bought it from said that it ran last year and probably needed a carb kit. i have replaced the carb kit and the motor will spit a little bit, but won't stay running. I have also replaced the hose on the gas tank as it had some leaks. It has good spark. I noticed that the connector from the engine to the gas tank is a little loose. Would this cause the engine to not run? any thoughts are appreciated

Personally, I wouldn't spend ten minutes on it without first checking the compression, and after that passes, take a look at the coils. They are notorious for cracking, and when they do you are wasting your time till you replace them. Having "good spark" doesn't impress me at all. Of course, maybe you will get lucky and somebody has already replaced them.
