I have a 1953-1954 Evinrude Lightwin 3 HP. I replaced the coils and it runs great! But I am not sure of the placing of the spark plug wires. Does anyone have a diagram or advice as to how to run them? What is the Spring on the side for? Does it wrap around the Spark plug wires? Thanks for your help.
This is one of those things your just going to have to figure out for your self. The spark wires run through the loop in the end of the spring. The sring is tensioned as to pull the wires down away from the fly wheel. Route the wires so they have the least chance of chaffing.
Drpolo, I have a Johnson/Evinrude Tune-Up and Repair Manual for engines from 1.5 HP thru 40 HP. Covers models 1956-1970. I checked on your request and it really didn't show any spring as you described it. I realize your engine is a little older, but was hoping this manual might help. If you have any other issues some if the book might apply. Give me a shout if I can help...
