Hydrostream V-King Restoration thread by Gotboostedvr6
This v-king came to me in need of a core rebuild,
The floor and stringers came out w/o any problem and the balsa core scraps out with a puddy knife
I was able to start the re core process thanks to my local craft store having a sh*t load of balsa core in stock. The new replacement stringers are almost cut perfict but some fine trimming will be needed before they are glassed in. This time the stringers will be connected to the transom like knees to hold the big v6 mota.... might mount the 235 on this one not sure...
Normally hydro streams have 2 stringers that run the length of the hull but im going to add 2 more on he sides of rear to add strength to the pad area.
Here is what i expect her to look like in the next month or so

Ah, memories!! Been there, done that! Two things to keep in mind -- Bob's Machine (jackplate & nosecone low water pick up) and Mazco prop. 93 mph. No sweat.

Good start. Once Mazco reworks the 27 it'll be a good acceleration or drag prop. With stock reeds you'll get into their limit real quick with a 27. Really good to learn with if you've never had one of these before. Somehow I suspect you have though.

I don't think it's on there but all the Valero YT's were about the same. This one happens to be a center steer set up.
I haven't had it in the water. Due to traveling and lack of time in general I haven't had time to finish the motor. We decided to sell it so the wife can use the garage again. The guy I bought it from said it ran in the mid 90's with a carb'd 200 Merc. The V-King's we used to run with 235's ran 93 so I'd have no reason to doubt it. I'd just like to move it on down the road.

The Valero's are 18'. Something like 17' 10" I believe. Yes the trailer goes with it. It's a galvanized trailer. A guy offered 2500 and I accepted but he never showed so too bad for him. Try my regular email at dhadley50@aol.com.

Im looking at a 1979 v-king with a 200 merc. Is this boat only made for speed ? I like cruising around the lake but i love the shape of the boat.
Does the boat feel big ?
