Default Nissan/Tohatsu 120 HP Water Impellor

    HI,
New to this forum. I was wondering whether someone could give me an idea of the difficulty of replacing the water impellor on the Nissan 120. I've done ehaust manifolds on my merc cruiser carbs, etc. Was wondering whether I was up to the job. Also, are there online instructions available for this project? Finally, is there an online source for the replacement impellor and what ever parts would be needed to complete the job. I should of also asked whether it requires any special tools.
    Thanks very much Roman!

If you have torn down outboards before, you will realize that this is a pretty straight forward job. No exotic tools needed.

Impeller kits along with service manuals are available from your dealer or online. I would recommend www.internetoutboards.com if you don't have access to a local dealer.

One more quick question on this project. I did get the service manual. It says that you need to take off a plate under the cavitation plate to remove a bolt, beside the six holdnig the lower case. It also says that you need to remove one pin. How do I get to that pin.
    Thanks Roman

The pin is on the shift rod coupkler and is visible.

My answers are like Zen...It may not be the answer you want, but it is generally the answer you need.

    The 3 Rules:

    1) Look in your service manual first...Then ask me if it is correct.
    2) Understand that your desire to repair your engine does not mean that you have the ability to do so.
    3) If you are confused, take your engine into a dealer..Then let them be confused...At least, in theory, they sent someone to outboard 101.
