I want to replace the water pump impeller on this engine. It has been in storage for about a decade and has only been run in the test tank, but given it's age I assume that the impeller should be replaced. The only serial number or other ID on it is BACL 1000989. It has an extra long shaft. My local Honda dealer says that is insufficient info to order the part. To order, he says, I must have a model number and year of manufacture and other info which I can't find on the engine. I am told that he can't order the correct impeller/kit without this info. It is surprising to me that getting what is usually a routine maintenance part should be so difficult. Or perhaps on Honda's the pump impeller never goes bad? Can anyone assist me?Thanks.David
Nothing lasts forever; the Honda water pump impellers do go bad, but no more frequently than any others. See the below link.Genuine Honda water pump service kitsHope the link helps. Prices are not bad either .
Thanks for the info. I will seek another dealer or try to get the parts over the web. I am wondering if there is a source on the web that cross references the serial number with the correct service kit? Any help there?David
