I have a 10hp Honda outboard, model # 1203333. The motor starts easy enough on the first or second pull every time. It runs with the choke pulled about half way but not for long without me holding the throttle open at the carb. If I push in the choke it will run for a few seconds and then die. I have cleaned the carb thoroughly along with the fuel pump. The diaphram in the pump did not appear to have any tears and was not stiff or hard. It is getting clean gas with all new hose and the connectors cleaned too.I also thought about timming but it is a CDI model and it runs smooth doesn't seem to missfire. It just doesn't want to run at a descent RPM.Any ideas?Mike
You have to make sure the manifold if it has one has not come loose, clean all the little idle circuit passageways with a pressurised solution noting the flow characteristics, (This might help.)Check the valve adjustment
I did not soak the carbw but sprayed them and cleaned them with b12 chemtool. I took it apart also just like that website said to. I have not checked the valve clearances I did not think those would cause the symptoms that I am having. And the manifold could be cracked I am going to go check that now.Mike
You may have already checke this point but since you don' t say so, have you adjusted the idle mixture circuit? The condition you describe is an engine too lean at idle.
