1976 Charger, will be putting a Merc 90 HP on tor this summer. Should go better than the 50 HP last year. If anyone has any information on this make of boat let me know. I am looking for all the information from the capacity tag. The manufacturer does not have any records as they were lost in fire in the 90's.

my 1987 Capri with a 5.0 OMC. bought it for $1500 with trashed interior and neglected all around in general. lots of hours later, she looks a little better, still doing the interior slowly (man, thats expensive to do!). the 305 runs perfect though, absolutely flawless.

Holy moly!! When I looked at this thread last night, it was only 3 pages long!! Hmmm, I don't think the boss will appreciate me looking at boats all morning when I have a report due in 2 hours though.

Here's mine, picked it up from ebay for $1000(Australian dollars) It's a 14' fibreglass of unknown origin from the 70s with a 1971 Johnson 60 triple. Yes that seat is dangerous and will be changed as soon as I can get other seats. We don't really have an off season here, so I'm loath to keep her off the water for long, I've managed to go out every weekend for the 4 weeks I've had her

Re: Show Yer Boat II

Here she is...my Formula....unfortunately, it doesn't even come close to fitting in the garage.

I decided to restore it shortly after I bought it. It has all new everything, paint, interior, engine, electronics, Just about the only thing original is the hull, and that's not much of an exaggeration! It kept me out of the water all last year, but it will be ready for this summer. My wife is pregnant though, so I'm not sure how much running it will get, but we will definitely be out alot, at least floating.

It still has some things that need done, but nothing major. I needed to do some work to my trailer today so I took it down to the river and splashed it. This was the first time I have had it in the water since the restoration began.

Here are the most current pics. It still either needs a fresh coat of bottom paint or stripped off. It will probably wait until next year at this point for it to be stripped off. For now I will just freshen up the coat. The last pic is what I started with. She was faded, out dated, and the block was cracked. Shes near new now.

Re: Show Yer Boat II

Well here's my first boat. Price was VERY right so I couldn't pass it up. Engine wouldn't start, generic aftermarket seats put my chin resting on the top of the windshield, trim wouldn't move outdrive, old wiring hanging down, steering cable frozen (parts included to fix that), prop went through some rocks, battery dead, registration tags all torn up, port bowrail ripped out of fiberglass... etc etc etc.

Took this picture yesterday. It's nearly ready for the water. Have the new prop and hub in the garage... pretty much just waiting for the marina to open up on 1 April.

Looks nice. Restoring them is fun as it nears completion. When I did mine, I questioned quite often if I should have just bought a new boat instead. It pays off in the end for sure wouldn't you say?

Here's my little 14' runabout with a 1969 Chrysler 35hp. I hope to sell it soon because I'm buying (hopefully) another boat later this week.

My boat is great for teaching the kids to ski, but when we want to have some tube wars....we need my sis' and her bigger Crestliner.

Re: Show Yer Boat II

ok, I was confused there for a moment. You mentioned a 14ft, but then the picture with the people in the boat made it look at least the same as my 17'... then I noticed the side markings which read Crestliner. . lol. Got it!

Matt86k5: I definitely like restoring things. I've done several classic cars. This is my first boat. Wouldn't really say I've done much restoration to it. Just cleanup, minor labor and tinkering. No paint, etc. Once the marina opens I'm going to leave it in the lake for a month and then work on the trailer. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Re: Show Yer Boat II

First boat was a 9' skiff powered with oars and a Minnkota.

Second boat was a 14' Starcraft aluminum with a 35hp Johnson on the back. Installed seats, windshield, and a steering wheel. Was a great run-around, beater boat that got me from place to place.

Current boat is an 18' Maxum bowrider with a 150 Optimax on the back. Great boat for cruising, fishing (riggers installed), and skiing.

My freshly restored 87 Baretta SS. I still have some more work to do, but she's mostly complete. I'm just itching to back on the water now.

Thanks for showing your Baretta. We had two of them when I was a kid, a blue tri-hull and one that looked almost exactly like yours. So many good memories were made in those boats!
