Is there an internal fuel filter from Mercury on the motor? 75 IL 150 H.P. Or should it be on the fuel line itself. I cant find one anywhere! I guess I had better put one on the fuel line anyway. will just A regular fuel filter work?
Thanks, Tim

You will need to install an inline fuel filter as the motor does not have an internal filter. Any inline fuel filter with hose barbs on it should work fine.

You can get a Tempo marine inline fuel filter at Wal Mart for about $4-6 in the sporting goods section. That's what I did on on mine (same engine as yours) and it works fine.

Tim, If you buy an inline fuel filter, you need at least a 5/16" fuel hose size. I would choose a 3/8" fuel hose size, to make sure the motor gets enough fuel.

Also, some of the 150 HPs had a fuel screen under a disk-shaped plastic cap, on the fule pump, near the fuel line quick disconnect. Make sure the screen is clean.

Ome more thing, If your motor had the "Back-drag" carbs, there is a screen under the brass fuel fitting on each carb. Sometimes these get clogged with dirt or rust.
