kicker bracket

I have a kicker mounting bracket from my last boat. I want to mount this on my new boat, a 1990 Hydrasport 20'. How do I determine height, position, etc. The bracket is a stainless spring loaded type.

measure your kicker leg. postion prop as low in the water as possible (without drowning your upper engine) for best bite when your bracket is extended. mark holes, drill holes, seal with epoxy. for best results use a backing plate as well. 1/2" uhmw plastic works well. pk.
