Stator Failure

I have an early eighties Mariner 50hp 4 cyl that has been failing to start at all for the last week. I have been checking numerous things and did a resistance check on the stator. My manual says that the resistance between the red and red/white stator leads should be 56-76 ohms, mine is 150 ohms. All that other resistances are ok. Is this out by enough to cause me a problem? Should I replace the stator?<br /><br />Any help much appreciated.

I'm taking the engine into the shop tomorrow. If anyone has any ideas whether or not my stator is shot I'd really appreciate it.<br /><br />Any help appreciated.

Windy<br />Basic electronics as ohms go up voltage goes down.
