1969 Johnson 85hp. No fwd/rev

I have a 69 Johnson 85hp. The motor starts and runs great, but wont move. The motor throttles up when the lever is moved, but no power to the prop. When not running the prop freewheels counter-clockwise, but not clockwise. I changed out the lower end oil (refilled with type C) with the same result.

this motor should be in forward gear when not running (spring loaded to forward and hydro-electric drive) if its not in gear when off<br />check prop hub<br /><br />type c gear oil is correct

It is, I assume in gear when off because the prop can be turned by hand one way but not other.

I just looked at my motor again, I think it may actually be a 70. Model# 85ESL70B
