Evinrude 6 Year Mfgr ?

I just got a Envinrude 6 ( 6 HP ?) from my grandfather. Model 66044, Serial # J0009225.<br />Can anyone tell what year it was made?<br /><br />Its in great shape but looks like it has not been started in a long time. Any hints on what to do ?

That appears to be 1976.<br /><br />It uses Champion J6C plugs gapped at .030, 50:1 87 octane fuel with TCW3 oil.

Hi Aggie! and welcome to the forum.<br /><br />If it were me I would most certinaly replace the water pump impeller. Those things dry out and become brittle.<br /><br />If it breaks up it will clog your cooling passeges around the cylinders. <br /><br />It can ruin Grampas little motor. real dang quick like.<br /><br />Good luck!
