My 1969 85 hp Johnson has hairline cracks in the flywheel. What could cause that? My thought was maybe previous owner tightened it down with an impact wrench! What other models can I use the flywheel from? <br />Thanks again!

Cross refrence the part numbers on ishopmarine.com or call the local dealer. There may be someone on here that knows for sure.

Are you sure it's cracked and not casting marks?

I thought they were casting marks at first, but I could see a line down the sides of one of the bolt holes. The flywheel does appear to be structally sound at this point, but I dont know what will happen at high rpms, assuming I get it started! I would perfer to replace it!

The 85, and 115 use the same flywheel.

Ok, even though the 115 and 85 have different part numbers, they are the same? Along the same lines, are johnson and evinrude flywheels and other parts interchangeable. Is there a cross refference guide somewhere? Didnt see one on ishop.
