I HAVE A 1991 JOHNSON 120 HP OUTBOARD, WHICH I JUST REPLACED THE WATER PUMP. I CANNOT GET THE WATER UP TO THE HEAD. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?

daboat,

You have two heads. Is only one not getting water?

If neither, drop the lower unit again, you did not get the water tube inserted into the powerhead correctly.

If only one head is hot, I suspect a thermostat or bypass clog.

If it is peeing a good stream, does that mean the water tube is in ok. I just replaced my water pump to and am just curious.

NO HEADS ARE GETTING WATER. IT'S NOT PEEING A GOOD STREAM. DOES THAT MEAN THE WATER PUMP IS BAD?

Might mean you did not get the tubes inserted into the water pump correctly. If that is the case I hope the tubes are not bent that happened to me once. I was lucky I had a spare lower unit.
good luck

Re: GETTING WATER TO THE HEAD

like already mentioned, it could be that you missied the water tube when installing the gearcase or the white plastic drive "wedge" for the impeller is missing.
