high price to change lower unit oil

i called the marina where i keep my 1996 johnson 115 ask them to change the lower unit oil for me and how much, they replyed $100 isn't that alittle high. time for me to learn how to do it.<br />lake conroe 50 miles north of houston.

cost me about10 dollars to do it myself and it only involes removing two screws,do it yourself,its pretty easy and you'll know that its right

If the boat is dry docked that is way to high. Normally about a 30 minute job plus oil. Now if the boat is in the water it is alittle more involved.

Sounds like the marina where you keep your boat is a ripp off, i used to work for a marina here in Okla. and i would do it free for anyone that didn't know how, you are already paying for storage and docks. People have got so money hungry it makes me sick. (just my opinion)

bmcgee1, get a manual for your moyor. A cheap investment and a great help for the small stuff

Use new gaskets on the two screws - common cause of lower unit leaks. Thread sealer might work in a pinch.
