I need to replace the power trim on my 1987 200 hp Johnson. Someone has offered me a 1987 or 88 150 Johnson parts motor for 400$. The parts motor has a broken crankshaft. Assuming the shaft sizes are the same, is this a good deal. The parts motor is fresh water only.

Re: Parts Motor

always kind of tough to price out a parts motor. You might get down to basics: If the retail cost for the part is, say, $500, a used part should sell for about half of that. With that in mind, you could offer $250 for the parts motor. If you manage to scavenge only the one part, you will have gotten your money out of it.

I guess I forgot to mention, the owner says the lower unit is good and it includes the s.s. prop.
