Would you buy a 2001 225 HP FICT?

Would you buy a 2001 225 HP FICT? Befor everyone sais "No way buy Yamaha", here me out. There are some very good prices out there on 01 FICT's. I have seen 225 HP 2001 Fict's new in box with Warantee for under $8K. A 4 stoke 225 HP Yamaha will run you $14k. Is anyone running a 2001 FICT? Love to here from you all on this one.<br />Stoked_not

i just bought a 1999 ficht 175 that was new and been on shelf for 4 years. dealer did updates and gave only 30 day warrenty but i just couldn't pass up on deal i got. paid $6000 for motor,cables,prop,guage,oil res.,shift box,tax and mounting. not bad for a motor that has 0 hrs on it. looked at yamaha and merc. and couldn't resist price of ficht. there's a chance of getting a dud in all motors.

have had it 3 weeks and been almost everyday. i've put 13 hrs on it with no problems except i have to learn how to control the chimewalk i get at 65-68 mph. is like learning to drive all over again. very fast and fuel eff. motor. uses 1/3 less gas than the carb. motor i had before.

I love a fitch engine. They sound like a two stroke on roids. They have ECU problems and voltage regulator problems. If they are rigged correctly you can cut down on half of the problems. You can buy an aftermarket warranty that will cover ECU and voltage regs. If you have a fitch you need two thing someone to work on them who likes them and two a warranty.

My neighbor has a 2001 Evinrude 225. He is a tournament bass fisherman. The motor is pushed to the extreme everytime he goes out. No matter what the conditions are the motor is run wot (6k). He has never had a problem. I have fished with him several times. That motor amazes me every time we go out. Starts instantly...idles perfect...strong acceleration and top end. The motor is 3 yrs old and still running perfect. Great motor.

I have a 2000 Evinrude Ficht 150hp that was a showroom model that I got in 2001. I have never had a single problem with it. I have about 300 or more hrs. on it now and have never done anything besides normal preventative maintenance to it, runs perfect at all speeds, never had any starting problems and is awesome on gas and oil. I highly recomend the Ficht's, mine makes boating a pleasure. I would deffinetely buy it. Good Luck.
