I HAVE A JOHNSON 1980 V4 85HP WITH COMPRESSION 40,140,130,130 WHATS MY NEXT STEP.I DONT WANT TO SPEND ALOT ON THIS MOTOR.

Cross your fingers and hope like heck it's just a stuck ring. Try a decarb, and see if the #'s come up. Good luck!

If you're a praying man....well, it wouldn't hurt.<br /><br />Do a search on these forums by using the red link up above and search for decarb. I have read a couple of really indepth descriptions on exactly how to do one.<br /><br />We all know what you mean by "I don't want to spend a lot on this motor"! I have a 72 Evinrude 100HP and believe me, I don't WANT to either. But remember, some good mainteneance and repair work is always cheaper than buying a new motor...<br /><br />Best of luck!

if the decarb fails, there is always the option of rebuilding one hole, hone her out, new set of rings, good to go
