I have a 96 johnson 50 hp, I am thinking about disconnecting the vro. I use the boat for duck hunting and it gets pretty cold sometimes. I am worried about the pump burning up when it is so cold since the oil is a lot thicker. Is it easy to disconnect?
any pros, cons?
thanks

Re: VRO disconnect???

Hey waterdog...I disconnected mine so's it would be simpler to maintain...remove the oil tube from vro and plug the hole...if the oil sensor is hooked up un do that also...wala...don't forget to mix the fuel...all the way to the carbs...just a Thought

You should have no problem with it if you maintain it, but I will give you the link to the reply as to how to disconnect it, when I asked the same thing. There are no drawbacks and you have the satisfaction of knowing that your engine is being oiled properly, when you mix your own!

VRO Disconnect
