I feel bad for that grandpa.

Yeah. For some reason I get a bad feeling in my stomach looking at that pic. Maybe it's a little too real. There's lots of boat fail pic on the web, but this one feels like that could be me. (except I'm like 30 years younger) Car a little too deep. (and I tow with a truck) Ramp slick. Just watch helplessly as she slowly slides in. Like you could almost reach out and grab it.

Amazing how those tree will jump out in front of you. Why do I get the feeling some alcohol was involved with this one. :noidea:
Probably way too much weight for that truck and he just lost control.

That is a full-size Chevy 1500 1/2 ton 2WD (mid 90's or so). Very capable of towing this boat

There seems to be a lot of people who think you can't tow anything unless you have a 3/4 or 1 ton 4 wheel drive. I would guess they weren't alive in the 60s and 70s when boats much larger than the one in the picture were towed by automobiles.

I tow a 7K boat with a 1/2T.

From the picture was hard to tell what type of truck it was.

GM sure made some butt ugly cars back then.

4100#s on a one axle trailer?

But It's not a Manure Wagon.

I was wrong on the weight, I thought the reading on the scale was 1900 kg, I found the pic of the scale and it was 1580kg which is about 3475, which is below the Buicks tow rating of 5000lb

My favorite Caddie, I wish they still made them 85-92_Cadillac_Brougham.jpg

Olds and Buick Wannabe Cadillac owners always claim their cars are the same. I owned an 1984Olds 98 and a 1989 Fleetwood Brougham in the 80s and 90s. They were different cars. They did share some pieces, like wheel nuts and distributor and radiator caps but, most parts were different.

Apologies for side tracking the forum

My worst nightmare is the texting twits that don't look up from their stupid phone and getting rear ended like this.

A little buffing and some polish and I think it will look great. Trains, Planes, and Automobiles...

Or they don't realize that the 1/2 ton of today is superior to a 1970's 1 ton in almost every measurable way.

I have a 2008 Silverado and it easily hauls around a trailer I use with upwards of 7k lbs as well. As long as the weight is properly distributed and the tongue isn't overloaded it's not too much. Most accidents are a result of either the load not being properly secured or uneven.

People are going to yell at me again but that van looks way to small to tow that boat.
