i have same problem on 05 suzuki df115 trim works fine but guage will not register with sender wire to sender and ground wire to ground but if i unplug ground wire and hold between fingers and then touch metal steering wheel the guage will work?????? why would the guage work while grounded through me but not to a good guage ground:lnly 2 wires should not be that hard to fiqure out but has me beat any help on this would be greatly appreciated maybe bad guage???

Your body represent a given amount of "resistance" to electrical current flow which is the exact principle on which trim senders work. Your sender is either defective, not grounded, or wiring to the gauge is bad. Get out the multi-tester and test the sender resistance.
