Contender Boats Bankruptcy

I hear Contender is on the verge of bankruptcy. Anyone else heard of this? I am not bashing Contender boats, I love them. Just wondering.

I heard the same thing today as I was getting my 100 hr service...... Said they are out of Biz.....This is comming from the warrantee guys for Yamaha. Guess Contender owes Yamaha $1,000,000 and cant pay.

I posted the question on another form when I read this. I did no realize that this thread was started five years ago. There is no truth to this thread according to a reputable source.


It should be deleted. Contender Boats is in no financial difficulty.

Their website is still up and the answering machine answers as Contender Boats.
I have put a email off to them to find out.

The date on this thread is November 10th, 2003, 12:16 PM and my source works in sales for a large Contender dealership.

Yes, but contender25's post was yesterday and is quoting Yamaha warranty people and that is reason I am checking.
No reply yet, BTW.

heck if contender owes yamaha 1mil all contender has to do is sell between 7-10 boats and i am sure that debt would be paid . has anyone priced a contender lately not cheap and i have builder/distributor down here and see them rolling new boats everyday to launch @ the marina for trial runs etc...

Just talked to Contender Boats in Florida and was assured that they have not or do they have any plans of filing.
