 I am considering buying a 1986 19' cobia bowrider(my first boat). The current owner says it needs a new boot, and that after it has run for approx 30-45 minutes the engine bogs down. After letting it cool it will then run normal again till it heats up and then bogs down again. does anyone know what this could be and whether or not it would be expensive to fix?

Re: '86 cobia help

Well, the bogging down could be a number of things. It could be as simple as simple as fuel system issues or it could be something more severe. Perhaps the current owner will take you out on the boat and let you see first hand what is happening. If he does, take note of the temperature and oil pressure. Also, if you have someone who is mechanically inclined go with you to observe. Last but not least, ask to do a compression test.

HookEm17340, please don't dig up 7 year old posts. Doubtful the original poster is even still a member.
